Hi. My name is Adriana. I am currently I student that is about to embark on a journey of a life time. I am going to study abroad in Florence, Italy. This blog is dedicated to my daily adventures adopting to my life in Florence!

Today, Samme and Heidi arrived. Liz and I had taken the better flat. It was bigger and nicer. Jed helped Samme and Heidi move in. Jed is one of the local directors here. They moved in all their stuff and then we went on the hunt for wifi. Wifi is a fairly new concept to the Italians. So we were lucky that it was getting installed in our apartment. We found a little shop near the Ponte Vecchio where wifi was offered. We order some pizza and hot chocolate. Soon after, Samme and Heidi were jet-lagged. They went back to the apartment to sleep. Liz and I roamed around and found la chiesa di santo spirito. It was beautiful but at the same time dark. We got back around 5:40 and began cooking dinner. We made pasta with sausage and peas. We went out and got gelato and ended the night watching Gentleman Broncos. We went to bed but Liz and I both woke up around 4. We got up and ate some pasta and talked. It was a good day.

I arrived to Italy around noon. It was absolutely incredible to be in this country. It was amazing! My roommate, Liz, and I traveled together. We flew out Dulles International Airport around 6 pm. Then we had a layover in Amsterdam and finally arrived in Florence around noon. Customs was basically a joke in Amsterdam. Literally they asked me three questions and let me go through security. I did not have to go through a body scanner or take off my jacket, shoes, belt, etc. It was super simple. Then we arrived at the Florence airport and it is super tiny. It did not even feel like an airport. We arrived and the baggage claim was to our right and the exit to our left. We found a pay phone and called the director of the program, Phillipa. She met us at our apartment. We took a taxi and the driver was so nice. He got out of his car and was going to show us exactly where our apartment was because the road was closed. Phillipa let us in to our apartment and I was in love. It is two separate flats together. We have two kitchens, two bedrooms, two living rooms, and tow bathrooms. We arrived and our internet was not working :P. We went out to lunch to a small cafe right after we settled in. It was an ok first Italian meal. Not the best but not the worst I have had. Then we were so tired that we went to sleep at 4 in the afternoon.

They are coming at 8:30 am tomorrow. I am so excited! I no longer have to share a stupid internet stick with my roommates. Which lately have been getting on my nerves.

The city is absolute amazing! I am truly in love with city already. I live about 5 minutes from the Ponte Vecchio. I will post more photos later when I have wifi in the apartment. Hopefully that is tomorrow!

OMG I am finally leaving!! I cannot believe it! I am actually leaving to florence!! I am so pumped and am ready to leave. I meeting my friend, Liz, at the the airport at 3:30!!

I have finished packing yesterday! It was definitely one of the most difficult things I have done, fitting all the clothing I wanted to bring for 3 months in 50 pounds. I DID IT. I currently singing of happiness. I leave in 24 hours!!!

hart-blinded:

I will be living right next to Il Ponte Vecchio

I have stopped packing my stuff for a couple days. It was literally the most frustrating thing ever but I decided to take a break from it. I will get back to packing probably tomorrow. I am leaving so soon! I am so excited! I am so close to begin this amazing adventure:D I will write some more later today!

Honestly all I am asking for is a little support from my family!! I am busy packing what I need for the next three months in one 50 pound luggage bag and a carry on but they absolutely refuse to give me good ideas on how to pack rather they just keep repeating you should really check two bags. NO, I DO NOT WANT TO DO THAT! Honestly, I should not need more than that! I know that I am overpacking and refuse to overpack anymore. Hopeful tomorrow will be better. Sorry for the rant

Oh my goodness. Packing is going just as bad as I thought it would be. First off I decided to pull out all the clothes I wanted to take; pants, jeans, a pair of sweats, skirts, dresses, tops, cardigans, scarves, etc. WELL IT DID NOT ALL FIT! I am moving to Florence for 3 months and I know that I am going to wear everything that I packed at least once. Ok, I must admit that I might be over packing just a tad but really I promise that I will every single item. I want to dress to impress in Florence. I dress well back in the States and need to continue this at a higher level in Italy. This is so frustrating!! I decided to stuff everything in the bag even though it was too much stuff. It only was 5 pounds over the limit! It does still mean that I need to take things out -___-. Hopefully tomorrow will be better! I dislike packing at the moment. I have included picture below. Sorry for the crap quality they are taken on my iphone.
